Golf Carts and General Safety
As our busy season approaches, we want to be sure everyone understands how important it is that our members have a safe and happy summer.  One reason is that the cost of our insurance, both liability for the members and worker’s comp for the employees, is based on the accidents we have had in the past and the safety measures we are taking to prevent accidents.  Another reason is the cost of protection in case of a lawsuit, and the legal fees that would be involved. But, the most important reason is the mental and physical pain of an injury or possible loss of life.

After much research by our attorney and liability insurance carrier, we want to point out some very IMPORTANT INFORMATION concerning the use of GOLF CARTS and the action the Club will take.

The Club will not be responsible for any accident(s) occurring within the scope of policies and instructions as set forth in this document.

IT IS UNLAWFUL TO OPERATE A GOLF CART ON PUBLIC HIGHWAYS WITHOUT A DRIVER’S LICENSE.  We realize that everyone must use the railroad track crossing on Broadway to get from one side of the course to the other.  While law enforcement and automobile drivers have always been lenient and courteous to us, we also realize that one small accident could change this.  So for the safety of all adults and children (children age 12 to 17 are allowed to drive a cart only if a release form is signed by a parent or guardian), we encourage you not to use Broadway except at the railroad tracks to get from one side of the golf course to the other.

We strongly urge you to check with your  insurance agent to be sure you have sufficient liability and/or theft coverage on your carts when being used and/or stored at the club.  Be sure you know the risks involved when your children are driving or riding with others.

A copy of the basic Golf Course Rules is enclosed.  Some of the rules relating to the major problems we have experienced with children in previous years are more fully explained below.

FAILURE TO ABIDE BY THESE OR ANY OF THE CLUB RULES COULD MEAN IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FROM THE PROPERTY AND SUSPENSION FOR A SPECIFIED PERIOD OF TIME!

Please note that these rules are directed at the children, not adults going to and from home, although our concern is the SAFETY OF ALL THE MEMBERS.

GOLF CARTS ARE TO BE USED ONLY FOR PLAYING A FULL ROUND OF GOLF….

not…for hitting a few balls and moving to another hole,

not…for going to or from the pool and tennis courts,

not…for playing or parking in groups in the cart sheds,

not…for “reckless driving” on the golf course or parking lot,

not…for using the parking lots or golf course as race tracks,

not…for going back and forth between club property and the areas of the STORE, CREEK,QUAIL RIDGE, HUNTINGTON PARK, or any HIGHWAYS except to cross Broadway at the railroad tracks when playing a round of golf,

not…for going into or through private property (yards) to retrieve golf balls or take a short cut.

Be sure you understand and explain all the club rules to your children and/or guests.  If you have questions, please call the office.
